Evony Tips: Research

An often neglected part of the game is research. Many guides often state that research isn't that necessary as it uses up valuable resources, but I aim to challenge that view.

Research should be conducted almost constantly. Not only are there necessary research options which will allow a player to build certain units or buildings, but there are other research options which will give good benefits.

For example: Construction. Each level in construction gives a 10% reduction in construction speed of buildings and fortified units. This doesn't sound a lot to begin with, but as you progress buildings take longer to upgrade. Imagine a structure that takes 10 hours to upgrade. 1 level in construction will reduce this down to 9 hours, 2 levels will take it down to 8, and so on. Again, a structure that needs 30 hours to complete could have 6 hours taken off this time by just 2 levels in construction, which means more time available to upgrade other buildings.

So, think about the future benefits of research before you think it is a waste of resources.
